Recommendation of the Transportation & Safety Committee regarding Route 53 as follows:
(1) Move southern boundary of the North Avenue to St. Charles phase of the project to include Route 53 and Madison Street.
(2) If option one is not approved, proceed with a separate project to signalize Route 53 and Madison Street including a 3-lane configuration.
(3) Staff continue to explore the signalization of Meadow Avenue in conjunction with the Route 53 project.
(4) Approve the IDOT design concept for Route 53 of the two left-turn lanes in the area of Sunset Avenue.
(5) Approve staff and IDOT recommendations regarding the sidewalk/bikepath along Route 53.
(6) Approve incorporation of street lighting along the entire length of Route 53.
(7) Request IDOT modify left-turn restrictions by opening Harrison and Charles Lane in concurrence with Harding and Madison with no left turn permitted between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., Monday through Friday on an interim basis.
